When you join our electrician apprenticeship, you'll complete 8,000 hours of on-the-job training and 576 hours in the classroom. Once you've completed all the requirements, you'll take the Texas Journeyman exam to receive your state electrical license.

ELECTRICAL APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM

We will be taking applications, for the 2025/2026 school year, June 9, 2025 thru July 3, 2025. All required documentation must be presented at the time of application. You must be employed with a contractor member to enroll in classes, employment is not guaranteed.

This is a four-year DOL approved apprenticeship program, with approximately 30 positions open.


Minimum requirements for Lubbock IEC Apprenticeship:

  • Be employed with an IEC Member Contractor - Employment is not guaranteed - List HERE
  • Have High School diploma or GED - or 2,000 verified OJT hours
  • Be physically capable of performing essential job functions
  • Be eligible to receive an Apprentice Electrician License with TDLR - Apply HERE
  • Have reliable transportation

Documentation to be provided at time of application:
  • Driver's License or State ID
  • Social Security card or other proof of employment eligibility
  • High School diploma or transcripts, or GED certificate (or documentation of at least 1 year experience in the electrical field)
  • Apprentice Electrician License
