Not everyone wants a four-year degree, and not every job is the right fit. If you're looking for a real career change, Lubbock Chapter IEC can help you get there.
Apprentices in our program complete 8,000 hours of paid, on-the-job training alongside 576 hours of classroom instruction. Once you've met every requirement, you'll sit for the Texas Journeyman exam and earn your state electrical license.

Minimum Requirements
- Employed with an IEC member contractor (employment is not guaranteed — view the contractor member list)
- High school diploma or GED, or 2,000 verified on-the-job training hours
- Physically able to perform essential job functions
- Eligible for an Apprentice Electrician License through TDLR
- Reliable transportation
Documents to Bring at Application Time
- Driver's license or state ID
- Social Security card or other proof of employment eligibility
- High school diploma or transcript, GED certificate, or documentation of at least one year of electrical field experience
- Apprentice Electrician License
